Nephrology Education at University Health Network
We are an exciting division with world-class scientists, clinicians, and teachers working together to steadily improve patient care and deliver consistently outstanding education. The division offers training in all renal replacement therapy modalities, including Home and In-Center Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, and Transplantation, as well as consultative and follow-up care for patients with all types of kidney disease.
Across the division there are clinics covering a number of specialized areas including hypertension, diabetic kidney disease, glomerulonephritis, hereditary kidney disease and many more. In addition, our faculty participates in a full range of academic activities including basic science, translational and clinical research, and teaching. Our division is considered to be one of the leading institutions for training Nephrologists for both academic careers and clinical practice in North America.
The Division of Nephrology is an accomplished community of academic nephrologists, with full-time members across the University of Toronto at leading hospitals including University Health Network, (Toronto Western Hospital and Toronto General Hospital), Unity Health Toronto (St. Michael’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Health Centre) and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Our division consists of many diverse subspecialties including home and hemodialysis, kidney/kidney-pancreas transplantation, glomerular disease, hereditary kidney disease, geriatric and palliative renal medicine, kidney, and onco-nephrology. With this breadth of expertise, we are proud to be able to provide outstanding clinical care, conduct ground breaking research, and offer numerous training opportunities in nephrology.
